In The Good Dinosaur 2, Arlo has matured into a brave and curious young dinosaur, still living with his family near the Clawtooth Mountains. One night during a thunderstorm, Arlo finds a strange claw-shaped necklace washed up near the riverbank. When he shows it to his father, he learns the truth — Arlo had an older brother named Talo, who was believed to have been swept away in a deadly flood years ago and presumed dead.

Fueled by the possibility that Talo may still be alive, Arlo sets out on a daring journey with his human friend Spot and a new companion named Luna, a clever young triceratops who has lost her own herd. As they travel through harsh lands filled with dangerous predators and wild weather, they hear stories about a mysterious dinosaur leading a group called the Stormrunners.

Eventually, Arlo discovers that the leader is indeed Talo, now grown, hardened, and distrustful after years of surviving alone. Talo refuses to return home, believing the past is better left buried. However, when the Stormrunners are attacked by a vicious raptor pack led by Zarn, the brothers are forced to fight side by side.

Talo is gravely injured saving Arlo, and during his recovery, he slowly begins to trust again. In the end, he agrees to return to the Clawtooth farm and reunites with their family. Luna finds a new herd to lead, and Spot chooses to stay with Arlo’s family permanently.

The film ends with Arlo and Talo standing together at sunrise, finally united as brothers.
